Family Orientated Home Based Childcare

Where we believe children need a safe, clean, happy environment that allows them to grow through play, planned planned activities and life experiences

As a home based childcare service, Family Day Care (FDC) offers:

  • a flexible childcare service for children
  • 6 weeks to 12 years and beyond if required.
  • It is regulated by the Department of Families (Child Care Act 2002 & Regulation 2003) – as are ALL other center based services in Queensland

Family Day Care (FDC) allows children to learn in a small group environment - as research indicates that children grow and learn better when they form close and long lasting relationships with one primary care giver.

Only Family Day Care provides this unique service in the childcare sector.

This childcare service offers families a sense of community, where parents are seen as co-collaborators in an environment supportive of family life. Parents are welcomed as partners in this childcare service and the care provider will share information and work with you to prepare your child for life’s journey beyond the early childhood years.

We ensure that your child is embraced as a person in their own right, that children are encouraged to make decisions and are exposed to changes and challenges in that environment, allowing the time and space to explore and develop life skills and experiences.

Children are exposed to a variety of learning through structured and free play experiences, incorporating the daily routine and rituals of a small group – where child initiated play is encouraged as it relates to their our learning objectives, with the added advantage of each child care worker (care Provider) being supported and resourced by a professional child care Co-ordination Unit offering ongoing professional advice, access to other support services and professional development to all care providers within their scheme.

Care Providers are required to hold a current suitability notice (as are All other adult occupants and frequent visitors to the care environment) and must have a current CPR and Senior First Aid Certificate.

The care provider’s home must undergo safety audits and care is monitored through impromptu, unannounced visits from Co-ordination Unit staff.

Care Providers’ operate an independent childcare business under the cap of the schemes in their area, which allows these childcare workers to develop individualized services to support the needs of the children and families utilizing their service.

Each Family Day Care scheme has policies relative to their region and MUST have undertaken and successfully gained Accreditation (FDCQA) as an approved Childcare Service with the National Accreditation Council.

The Quality Assurance principals, scheme policies and state legislation all form the foundation for a child care service able to offer flexible and affordable childcare which embraces the individual nature of families and nurtures children to their full potential.
